Trimble Earthworks | Paving The Way
Devin Corley of SITECH Mid-America joins us on the job site to discuss how we at Leritz have incorporated Trimble Earthworks technology into our dozers.
This software lets our project managers analyze the terrain, calculate the desired grade, and translate it into an automated, easy-to-read cab guide.
The technology allows our crew members to work with pinpoint efficiency, saving you time and money while enhancing the quality of the grade!

Devin Corley: So, Leritz has invested in Trimble Earthworks cab-mounted technology.
The system is mounted on the top of the cab with GPS receivers, and there's a radio that communicates with the base station, and there are sensors out on the blade with a display in the cab.
On this display, they can see at any point in time what their live read elevation is. They can see what their cut fill is. This cut fill is based off of a model that is made.
This model is created by someone in the office to what the engineer has designed. And then once that model's made, then they can input that model into the machine and then get a constant live read map anywhere they are on site, what the cut fill is at that location.
Also within the system is the ability to use the automatic's function. This is a Cat D3 machine. This machine has automatics built into it. So at any point in time, if the operator's close to grade, he can hit a button on the machine and it will automatically adjust the blade to put it on grade.
The opportunities here for Leritz is obviously to be more efficient, higher productivity, getting the job done quicker and with better grade, I guess is what I would say, with a better result at the end.
Leritz is one of the few asphalt companies in this area that has taken advantage of this technology. They're one of the first. We do have a few more asphalt companies, but for the most part, Leritz being strictly asphalt is one of our few asphalt only companies that's taking advantage of this opportunity.
